Miami-Dade County Extends The Time to Apply for Rent Relief Until July 9

MIAMI  —Miami-Dade County has extended the time to apply for its rent relief program until Friday, July 9.  Eligible Miami-Dade County residents that have fallen behind on rent due to COVID-19 can apply for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP 2.3) to help pay back rent and other housing costs.  All applications submitted during the open period will be placed into a pool that will be sorted by a computerized random selection process to determine order of review.

Miami-Dade Offers Residents Summer Season Mosquito Control Tips

MIAMI —Today is the first full day of summer. This means more outdoor time spent at picnics, barbecues, and at parks. It also means more annoying mosquitoes, and the potential for bites and the diseases they may transmit. Miami-Dade County's Mosquito Control and Habitat Management Division is prepared for a long, hot season of abatement activities and requests for services, and offers some helpful hints on how to stay bite-free.

Commissioner Nikki Fried Joins USDA Event on $4 Billion in American Rescue Plan Debt Relief for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers

Quincy, Fla. – Yesterday, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried joined U.S. Department of Agriculture Deputy Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Monica Rainge, U.S. Representative Al Lawson, Jr. (FL-5), and others to highlight historic American Rescue Plan provisions that provide $4 billion in debt relief to socially disadvantaged farmers, ranchers, and growers. They were joined at the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Research and Extension Center in Quincy, Florida by FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., FAMU College of Agriculture and Food Sciences Dean Robert Taylor, Ph.D., Gadsden County Commission Chair Brenda Holt, Quincy Mayor Ronte R. Harris, and approximately fifty farmers and ranchers from across North Florida.

The T.J. Reddick Bar Association

Fort Lauderdale, FL - The T.J. Reddick Bar Association and Kaplan have developed a partnership to increase the number of Black attorneys by creating a scholarship for Black law students. This new scholarship, in the form of bar preparatory courses, will be awarded to eligible rising 2Ls and 3Ls who are members of the Black Law Students Association in South Florida, to help alleviate the financial burdens that Black law students experience while preparing for the bar exam.

Park improvements include a new 20,300 square foot playground for the 2.47 acre neighborhood park, making it the largest playground in the Miami-Dade County Parks system.

Nationwide, more than 30 percent of deaths involving teen drivers occurs during what’s called the “100 Deadliest Days” - a period that runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
