MIAMI, FL - The Redland Summer Fruit Festival returns with a bounty of seasonal local agriculture and many varieties of tropical fruit, ripe and ready for the tasting, as well as loads of family-style summer fun on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at Preston B. Bird/Mary Heinlein Fruit & Spice Park, located at 24801 SW 187 Avenue in Homestead. The festival includes vendor booths featuring tasty cuisine, rare fruit samplings that are guaranteed to shock everyone’s taste buds, watermelon eating contests, lawn games for kids, and much more!

City Officials and Community to Celebrate Grand Opening of Caton Flats on Friday at 11 a.m. in Flatbush

Brooklyn, NY – On Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. City and elected officials along with community members will gather to celebrate the grand opening of Caton Flats, a mixed-use development, which includes more than 250 affordable homes, a revitalized and expanded Flatbush Central Caribbean Marketplace, and 20,000 square feet of community space. The project was spearheaded by New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) in partnership withDepartment of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) andHousing Development Corporation (HDC) with developersUrbane, andBRP Companies.

Social Justice and Pride Issues Explored in Groundbreaking Island SPACE Caribbean Museum Program Series

Plantation, Florida - In a groundbreaking move, the United States’ first and only Caribbean heritage museum, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum, will host an exhibition exploring advancements made by members of the LGBTQ+ community. On Tuesday, May 10, a special opening event will launch the first in the museum’s lineup of social justice issues programming. “Queer Caribbeans: Resilience, Resistance and Reimagining,” will present a multimedia, historical retrospective showcase of the racial and cultural achievements of Caribbean LGBTQ+ rights activists. The project will focus on leaders who set the foundation for victories within the Caribbean LGBTQ+ diasporic community and their contributions to broader LGBTQ+ liberation movements in the United States.

World-renowned musicians will come together to explore Cuba’s spectacular musical heritage, celebrating the contributions of famous Cuban artists and composers from the time of Cuba’s independence from Spain to the present.

Miami, Fla. – The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) is accepting applications for the 2022 United Health Foundation, Louis Stokes Health Scholarship Program, Ally Financial Law Scholars Program and Public Policy Scholars Program Scholarships, Stephen Feinberg Scholars Program and Multi-Year Program Scholarships, CBC Spouses Education Scholarships, CBC Spouses Essay Contest Scholarship, CBC Performing and Visual Arts Scholarships, and CBCF HBCU Scholarship. All qualified and motivated Black students who intend to pursue a degree within these fields are highly encouraged to apply.
