Miami, – Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2,433 U.S. teens ages 16-19 were killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2016. That means six teens ages 16–19 died every day from motor vehicle accident injuries. Fortunately, most motor vehicle crashes are preventable, and proven strategies can improve the safety of young drivers on the road. Since 2013, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) School of Justice has offered the Advanced Teen Driving Safety Program to help prevent teen accidents. The next session will take place on Saturday, July 27, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., at MDC’s North Campus.
