What Do Americans Really Believe and Think After the Election

As many Americans get a chance to exhale, there are many who are angry, and believe the election was rigged. There is a major division in America, and many are preparing for a civil war.

“What is becoming clear each hour is that record numbers of Americans of all races, faiths and religions chose change over more of the same, and have given us a mandate for action on Covid-19, the economy, climate change, and systemic racism. They made it clear. They want the country to come together, not continue to pull apart,” says President-Elect Biden.

On one side of the fence this statement is true, but on the other side of the fence, where 73 million Americans voted, this statement is false. As Trump continues to spend tax payers’ money, he is trying to prove that the election was not fair and a hoax. Even though the transition is taking place after two weeks of the blame game, there has been no concession from President Trump and his team. Tradition has been thrown out of the window, and the new administration is considered enemies.

The Democrats see the Republicans as pathetic, traitors, sick, and corrupt, and the Republicans see the Democrats the exact same way. As President-Elect Biden calls for unity and an end to pointless partisanship, millions of dollars is being raised for the Senate race in Georgia.

Politics in America has become a blood sport, and the truth and facts, have been replaced by lies and ruthlessness. When White folks say racism is over, they really believe it, even though they practice it every day. America forgets so easy, because there were nationwide protests all over the country, and was lead by “Black Lives Matter.”

Even though there were protests and demonstrations in cities all over the country, and police brutality was rampant, and businesses and properties were burnt to the ground, Biden and his team is ready to bring the country together in unity. It does not appear realistic, and the exit polls suggest that Trump gained more support from White women, than the last election at 55%.

It is very easy for President Trump to not condemn White nationalist organizations with guns, because they are patriots making America great again. Racism is systemic, and institutionalized, and White supremacy is deeply invested in the country. There is something fundamentally wrong with a system, when Trump’s legal team tries to throw out a minority county’s votes, because they are Black voters.

The foundation of America was built on racism, and White people in 2020 find it hard to talk about racism, even though many keep racism hidden and secret. White people will admit there are individual bad actors, which are racist, but the majority of Americans think they are not racist.

The growing wealth gap is one example of systemic racism, and ultimately the institutions help control racism with legal policies and the courts. The legal system is set up to keep poor people poor and rich people rich. As more people are unemployed, or under-employed, the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell can keep things the way they are, if the Republicans win one Senate seat in the Georgia runoff.

The Biden/Harris administration will be under tremendous pressure to solve the Covid-19 pandemic, and create millions of jobs with millions of bankrupted companies. Trump is not going away, and it will take 2 years for the country and economy to improve.

As Americans, we will probably not compromise, but it is important to talk to each other, and tell the truth about our feelings. Biden and Harris will tell the truth about the country, and the leadership must listen to Black, Brown and other people of color. There are millions of poor people in the country, and the federal government has the responsibility to improve the quality of life for all Americans.

“But we have to remember the purpose of politics isn’t total unrelenting, unending warfare. The purpose of our politics, the work of the nation, isn’t to fan the flames of conflict, but to solve problems, to guarantee justice, to improve the lives of our people,” says President-Elect Biden.
