“While we respect the CDC guidelines, we must also recognize that we only have fifteen days left of school. Our educators believe it would be more prudent and less disruptive to have our students continue wearing face masks on our school campuses. As we wrap up the school year and children are already in the habit of following safety protocols, regardless of their location or activity, wearing face masks continues to provide another layer of protection. Young children, who are also not yet eligible for the vaccine and have a harder time staying socially distant, are much more prone to losing items such as a mask during times of recess, which would then present unnecessary challenges and additional stress to our teachers and staff upon them needing to reenter our buildings and classrooms. Let’s continue to support our educators in these last few days and keep all of our families as safe as possible heading into summer. We continue to encourage all those eligible to get vaccinated.”
“A pesar de que hemos respetado, y continuamos respetando las pautas de la CDC, también debemos reconocer que solo nos quedan quince días de clases. Nuestros educadores creen que sería más prudente que nuestros estudiantes continúen usando máscaras en nuestras escuelas. Ya estamos terminando el año escolar y los niños ya están acostumbrados a seguir los protocolos de seguridad. El uso de las mascarillas brinda una capa de protección muy importante y lo mejor sería mantener el uso de las mismas, independientemente de la ubicación o actividad de nuestros niños. Los niños pequeños, que aún no son elegibles para la vacuna y se les hace más difícil respetar el distanciamiento social, son mucho más propensos a perder sus pertenencias, como sus máscaras, durante el recreo. Esto presentaría retos innecesarios y estrés adicional para nuestros maestros y personal al momento de reingresar a nuestros edificios y salones de clases. Sigamos apoyando a nuestros educadores en estos últimos días y mantengamos a todas nuestras familias lo más seguras posible antes de la llegada del verano. Invitamos a todos los que cumplen los requisitos para que se vacunen”.
