Dear Mayor Gimenez:

Resolution no. R-463-18 requiring the development of a “Biscayne Bay Report Card” was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on May 1st, 2018. The legislation required a report to the Board within 6 months and the production of an annual Biscayne Bay Report Card no later than May 2019.

Separately, I had requested a report on “next steps” for identifying septic tanks vulnerable to Sea Level Rise and a plan for addressing this back in 2019.

It is my understanding that these documents have been produced and submitted to your office many months ago. Since I have repeatedly requested the release of these documents and none has been forthcoming, I am now asking for copies of these documents through a formal letter.

Consequently, I am requesting that you provide copies of the following records in either electronic or paper form:

1) the most recent version of any “septic to sewer” report routed to your Office for review;

 2) the most recent version of any reports or work product responsive to R-463-18 (“the Resolution”) intended for distribution to the Board of County Commissioners as required by the Resolution, including but not limited to any drafts of the Biscayne Bay Report Card from either 2019 or 2020 in possession of the Office of Mayor.

Since they have been languishing for many months, I am sure you can readily provide the documents requested by the end of this week. Please let my office know when we can expect receipt of these records.

In service,

Daniella Levine Cava

Miami-Dade County Commissioner, District 8
