Black Voters are a Cornerstone of America’s Rights and Democracy
With only four weeks left before voters head to the polls, the public at-large and Black voters in particular are targeted with an unprecedented volume of lies and disinformation. Since Black voters must receive accurate knowledge and information to safeguard our rights, our communities must be equipped with truth and facts.
In 2024, the presidential election must be built on the foundation of fair and truthful elections, but Donald Trump and JD Vance appear to be trying to out lie each other. As Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Walz fight to protect American children and youth, Trump and Vance are working to eliminate the Department of Education.
“From her time as prosecutor to her role as Vice President Harris has fought to protect our children and build a brighter future for them. Together Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have the experience and vision to lead us forward,” said State Representative Johanna Lopez.
Governor Walz has been a teacher for decades, and as an educator, he understands the importance of education. The Harris and Walz campaign is not going back and education is the key to going forward. As Harris and Walz are fighting to strengthen public education, training and education is usedas a pathway to the middle class for all Americans.
Lowering the cost of higher education and making it more affordable is on the Harris and Walz priorities list. In one year higher education can cost a family $20 to $70 thousand. If a family has more than one student in higher education, the family is going broke, or cashing in their retirement funds.
President Biden and Vice President Harris have approved the total loan forgiveness plan for $167 billion, since they have been in office. This action builds on President Biden and his Administration’s efforts to provide debt relief to as many borrowers as possible. Harris and Walz ‘s plan is to continue with Biden’s Administration loan forgiveness plan and give debt relief to one out of every 10 borrowers.
During the debate between Walz and Vance which was very cordial at the end, Walz challenged everything that Vance stood on. The clearest divide of the night came when Walz put Vance on the spot during a discussion on the January 6, 2021 insurrection.
It started when Walz said Trump was making claims that he had won the election in 2020, and did he lose that election? Vance answered the question by saying he was focused on the future, and sidestepping the truth.
Walz pushed back, arguing that Trump is already laying the groundwork to reject the outcome of the 2024 race if he loses. ”Here we are four years later, in the same boat. The winner needs to be the winner. This has got to stop. It’s tearing our country apart,” says Governor Walz.
The Congressional Black Caucus and the Black vote have served as the conscience of the Congress and our nation. America relies on Black women and Black men to lead our country to make democracy and the constitution a reality based on truth. In 2024, Black voters are well positioned to turn out in historic numbers, but it will not happen without the necessary work.
There must be a major turnout in rural Georgia, in rural North Carolina, rural Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, where we’ve got sizable pockets of Black and Brown voters. Driving up Black voter turnout is crucial for Harris and Walz to win.
There is less than one month for Harris and Walz to win the election. Everyone must talk to their family, friends and business associates to vote, for the right team, Harris and Walz for President and Vice President of the United States.
