KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Stopover visitors will soon have additional seats for flying to Jamaica from New York, Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Hartford, CT.
Beginning in November, Avelo will offer twice weekly service from Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL) to Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ), Montego Bay.
This winter, JetBlue will also increase its service to Kingston, Jamaica over the peak festive season with as many as five flights daily from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) as well as Ft. Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport (FLL), while JFK and FLL into MBJ will increase to four times daily over the peak of the festive season.
In addition, JetBlue flights from Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS) increases to three times weekly all winter, while flights from Orlando International Airport (MCO) will be twice daily for the festive season.
“Winter air lift from JetBlue is estimated to increase by more than 30,000 seats from key markets,” said the Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, Jamaica. “Coupled with Avelo’s new service from Connecticut, this gives us access to millions of potential visitors to our island.”
“We are grateful for the strong relationships we continue to enjoy with airline and travel industry partners, and this is reflected in our ability to bring visitors here from key and emerging gateway markets,” said Donovan White, Director of Tourism, Jamaica Tourist Board.
Jamaica has welcomed just over two million stopover visitors, and approximately three million total visitors, including cruise arrivals, between January 1 and September 14 this year. This achievement marks an increase over last year's figures for the same period.
