Dominican Republic and Argentina Sign Open Skies Agreement

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – The governments of Argentina and the Dominican Republic have signed a bilateral open skies agreement, marking a significant step toward enhancing air connectivity between the two nations.

skiesairWith this deal, Argentina now has open skies agreements with 11 countries, including Brazil, Chile, and Canada.

This policy transition eliminates restrictions on flight frequencies, enabling airlines to adjust schedules based on market demand and seasonal trends, thereby fostering competitiveness and improving passenger connectivity.

Under the agreement, airlines can expand their transport networks across the continent, unrestricted by the previous cap of 14 weekly flights.

The policy also removes limits on regular cargo flights, allowing them to operate under the “seventh freedom of the air,” which permits flights that neither begin nor end in the airline’s home country.

The agreement was formalized by Argentina’s Secretary of Transportation, Franco Mogetta, and Héctor Porcella Dumas, President of the Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Board.
