KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent – Tourism Minister Carlos James Friday said that the US-based Delta Airlines will begin flying to St. Vincent and the Grenadines in December.

carlosjaCarlos James“I am happy to announce this morning, formally, that St. Vincent and the Grenadines will now see new nonstop flights connecting our vibrant, multi-island state to Atlanta, Georgia, thanks to Delta Airlines,” James said.

Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves had earlier this year said that a major US airline would soon be flying into the Argyle International Airport.

James said that Delta will begin the daily service on December 20, and that “visitors will have convenient daily access aboard Delta’s state-of-the-art, Boeing 737, offering a seamless and comfortable journey to world-class attractions, thriving business community and stunning landscapes here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“I am indeed pleased to announce this here, following a record-breaking year in stay-over arrivals to the destination, we are delighted to welcome Delta Airlines to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and particularly to Argyle International Airport, and this strategic partnership will strengthen connection and connectivity between the destination, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and one of our major source markets, the United States.”

James said the government is continuing with its efforts to make the country more accessible  “by leveraging these strategic partnerships within the tourism sect”.

“We are hoping we can attract more visitors to the destination, and have a lot more people come in to discover, enjoy and indulge in what St. Vincent and the Grenadines has to offer,” James added.
