Prime Minister Mia Mottley Unveils New Cabinet

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Prime Minister Mia Mottley Monday announced a new cabinet, while offering two seats in the Senate to the opposition parties as she begins a new five-year term in government following her Barbados Labour Party (BLP) whitewash of its adversaries in the January 19 general election.

Bajan Opposition Party to Elect New Leader

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – The main opposition Democratic Labour Party (DLP), will be electing a new president in April, following the party’s devastating loss in Wednesday’s  general election Speaking to the media on Friday , the DLP’s interim president, Steve Blackett in confirming the resignation of Verla De Peiza as president, added that a special conference will be held in mid-April to elect a new president.

Mia Mottley Sworn in as Prime Minister

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Mia Mottley was sworn in as Prime Minister on Thursday afternoon, announcing that until she swears in her Cabinet next week, she will take responsibility for the health portfolio amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
