The Florida Education Association Endorses Kevin Chambliss for House District 117

Recently, the Florida Education Association formally endorsed House District 117 candidate Kevin Chambliss for State Representative. “FEA’s biggest asset is our members and their dedication to electing pro-public education candidates,” said Fredrick Ingram, President in his letter of endorsement. “As such we will be recommending your candidacy to the members who live in your district and urge them to help you achieve victory this cycle.”

Chambliss, a graduate of Jackson State University and lifelong Democrat, has served the community as a member of the NAACP, South East Dade Ministerial Alliance, Miami-Dade County Democratic Executive Committee, and as President of the South Dade Democratic Black Caucus – Ron Brown Chapter. Chambliss first held elected office as a Dekalb County Board Member from 2008 to 2010. He currently serves as Youth Pastor of Covenant Missionary Baptist Church in Florida City, FL.

Founded in 1886, the Florida Education Association is the state’s largest association of professional employees and the largest labor union in the Southeast, with more than 145,000 members.

The Florida Education Association joins the SEIU, AFSCME, AFL-CIO South Florida, Moms Demand Action, United Faculty of Miami Dade College, Florida Agribusiness for Responsible Government, and the South Florida Police Benevolent Association along with U.S. Rep. Donna Shalala, U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel Powell, former U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia, Senator Jose Javier Rodriguez, Senator Oscar Braynon, Senator Annette Taddeo, Rep. Joe Geller, Rep. Javier Fernandez, Rep. Nick Duran, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine-Cava, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dennis C. Moss, former Village of Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner, City of Florida City Mayor Otis Wallace, Vice-Mayor Sharon Butler, Commissioner Eugene Berry, former City of Homestead Mayor Roscoe Warren and former City of Homestead Councilwoman Judy Waldman.
