Currently as the State’s First Vice President and former President of Orange County Black President, Russell Drake has decided to run for statewide office as president. With a 2020 presidential election, there is a need for dynamite leadership, and effective communication to grow and build the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida as the most powerful Black organization in the state. He has build the Orlando chapter from 12 to 120 members, and his vision and platform statewide is to grow the caucus to 35 chapters, and build the existing membership in each chapter to 50 or more.

Russell Drake Flyer DBCF PresidentWith the theme of “Let’s Build Black Power: Thru Political, Economic and Social Education” is a challenge that is critical to Black people in Florida, the country and the world. For too long others have spoken for our community, and it is time for the Democratic Black Caucus to be a voice that leads our community forward. “In the first 90 days, I will sit down with the existing presidents and develop a strategic plan with a renewed direction and mindset to build a Black Power Agenda that is based on action,” says Russell Drake.

No organization can be successful without sponsors, partners and collaborations with other Black and diverse Organizations. As president, his focus will be on economic development, and every chapter should focus on economic development, and there should be events throughout the year. “Petty differences should be placed aside to achieve a greater purpose, with a united focus – Let’s Build.” The Black media is struggling and the caucus under his leadership will sit down with the Black publishers and media leaders around the state and develop a plan to support each other. It will take work to build a Black Power Agenda, and with your vote, the Black Caucus will be the strongest Black organization in the state.
