Florida Dems to Host Digital Weekend of Action to Get Floridians to Vote By Mail

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida Democratic Party is hosting a busy weekend of events with volunteers across Florida. The party will be hosting online trainings and digital phone banks this weekend with a strong focus on assisting Floridians to fill out a vote by mail request.

Terrie Rizzo, chair of the Florida Democratic Party, stated the importance of staying safe and working to win in November:

“While we cannot be together, that doesn’t mean we are apart. This weekend Democrats from across the Sunshine State will be taking part in a digital weekend of action to rally volunteers, assist voters with requesting mail-in ballots, and reach out to Floridians about why we need to send Donald Trump packing in November.”

In addition to more than 100 all digital events happening across the state, Florida Democrats are inviting press to join us at 4 pm on Saturday, May 30, for Florida Dems Live -- a social event of games, special guests, and field training. The event will start with a training on virtually phone banking. This will be followed by social match ups on Ice Breaker where attendees will have the opportunity to be matched with other Florida Democrats from across the state.

Press are also invited to join one of 3 virtual trainings FDP is hosting on May 30 to train phone bank volunteers in helping voters to enroll in vote by mail.

Elected officials and party leaders will be leading phone banks in their areas which are also open to the press. At 10 am on May 30, Orlando Commissioner Bakari Burns will lead a virtual phone bank for the Orlando area.  At 1 pm that day, Senator Victor Torres will be hosting a Spanish language virtual phone bank. At the same time, Barbara Scott, chair of the Pinellas Democratic Party, will kick off a phone banking session with Democrats from her county. 

Events for the weekend go into Sunday, May 31. On Sunday, May 31, Representative Anna Eskamani will host a phone bank at 1 pm that day which press are welcome to join.
