Community Advocate Runs for Tamarac City Commissioner

Jamaican born, Michelle Jones, is taking the challenge to be the first African American woman to sit on the Tamarac commission board.

mjonesWith a degree in Culinary Arts/Education, many residents already know her as Chef Jones.

While she says her best accomplishments are not degrees or awards, she has both. Jones is a teacher. She has a master’s degree in psychology and is also a Chaplin.

She serves on Broward County’s School Diversity Board and Tamarac Shareholder’s Board.Jones was recognized by the Boys and Girls Club with their ‘Outstanding Woman of Her Community’ award and inducted into the Tamarac Historical Society’s Hall of Fame.

Jones is ready to serve her community as the Commissioner of District 1!

Her goals:

Working with the school board on issues with learning disabilities and mental health.

Creating more affordable senior homes.

Working with community leaders and our police departmentto build community trust.
