Junior Minister of Education in Trinidad Dies Suddenly in Fire at Her Home

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Police and fire officials  are investigating the cause of a fire that led to the death of Junior Minister of Education, Lisa Morris Julian, on Monday morning.

Initial reports indicate that the fire at her home in Arima, east of here, also claimed the lives of two other people, including a six year old child.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley is among persons who have since gone to the scene of the tragedy.

Morris Julian was the parliamentary representative for the  D’Abadie/O’Meara, haloing won the seat on a ricket of the ruling People’s National Movement (PNM) in the 2020 general elections.

She also served as the mayor of Arima between 2013 and 2020.

In a statement, the PNM said “our initial reports from Minister Beckles Robinson, who is on the scene now is that unfortunately our beloved sister Lisa perished in a home fire along with her 6 year old son and her sister.

“The acetal facts are still being confirmed and in the meanwhile we all lift her beautiful soul and those of her son and sister and wider family in prayer. She was an  an absolutely beautiful kind strong compassionate and amazing person. We are all heartbroken”.
