Haitian-American Entrepreneur Emmanuel Paret to Receive Award
WASHINGTON, DC – The Washington-based Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS) says it will honor Emmanuel Paret, with its Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award next month.
ICS’s Jamaican born president and founder, Dr. Claire A. Nelson, said the November 15th 31st Annual Caribbean-American Heritage (CARAH) Awards Gala, will be held under the theme “A Celebration of Excellence and Service”.
She said the occasion is dedicated to recognising the exceptional achievements and groundbreaking contributions of Caribbean American leaders across various sectors, including health care, the arts, business, public service and community service, who have become beacons of inspiration for current and future generations.
“Emmanuel Fritz Paret, a Haitian-American entrepreneur with billion-dollar assets, has established himself as a transformative force across multiple industries, revolutionizing the global landscape with ventures in mining, energy, real estate and hospitality,” she said.
“As the visionary founder and CEO of Paret Mining LLC, he oversees a conglomerate managing over US$80 billion in assets, propelling the company to the forefront of the global mining and energy sectors.”
Nelson said Paret’s journey began with “deep-rooted” expertise in mining, controlling Haiti’s largest mine, Fond Parisien, valued at over US$90 billion and that since 2018, the mine has consistently produced over 5,000 tons daily, “showcasing his ability to merge industrial prowess with business acumen.”
The ICS president said Paret’s influence extends into Kentucky’s tar sands oil reserves, where Paret Mining holds exclusive rights to over three billion barrels of oil.
She said Paret led, invested in, and formed the exploration for oil drilling in Haiti from 2011 to 2018, “which hasn’t been done for over 50 years” and that he is also building the first oil refinery in Haiti, “which speaks to his ambition for the country of Haiti.”
In addition to mining, she said Paret’s strategic ventures in the energy sector have redefined his standing as a global leader.
In 2024, Dr. Nelson said Paret Mining LLC acquired a 10,000-acre oil reserve in Bowling Green, Kentucky, “further strengthening his role in US energy security.
“His vision for expanding oil production positions him at the helm of energy innovation,” she said, adding that Paret’s impact transcends mining and energy.
As the proprietor of the Paret Hospitality Group, Dr. Nelson said Paret owns several Hilton properties, including the prestigious Kaliko Beach Resort in Haiti, outlining also his success in other areas including building the first dialysis facility in Haiti, which serves the Haitian people mostly free of charge, and owns major ports in Barahona, Dominican Republic, and Gonaives, Haiti, key hubs for international commerce.”
“As a trailblazer in global entrepreneurship, he is dedicated to creating a legacy that balances profitability with social impact, demonstrating that success and ethical leadership can coexist.
“These are reasons to celebrate Emmanuel Fritz Paret with the CARAH 2024 Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award.”
