Veteran Jamaican Journalist Barbara Gayle Murdered
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police are probing the murder of one of the island’s veteran court reporters, Barbara Gayle .
According to police reports Gayle was killed at her home in the central parish of St. Catherine on Tuesday morning.
The police have confirmed that her car was stolen, and investigations are ongoing.
Gayle, celebrated as Jamaica’s foremost court reporter, was honoured by the Press Association of Jamaica in November for her extraordinary career spanning over four decades with The Gleaner.
The journalistic fraternity is mourning Gayle’s death that marks the loss of a journalistic icon whose integrity, shaped Jamaica’s media landscape.
Her contributions extended beyond journalism, with her column Legal Wranglings earning her multiple awards, including Journalist of the Year in 1997.
