Bullets Fired at the Vehicle of Local Calypsonian and Social Media Influencer in Dominica
ROSEAU, Dominica - Police are investigating an incident in which gunshots were fired at the vehicle of calypsonian and social media influencer, Narrin “Trendsetter” Murphy, during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Two of the bullet holes after the vehicle of the Calypso singer was shot at Murphy, who was not injured, said that “The Lord is my shepherd, I will fear no evil” and that “no weapon formed, or fashioned can stand against me.“I am not afraid to die, ladies and gentlemen. I have done nothing to hurt or harm anyone. I have simply tried to assist where I have to assist and be a sense of reason where I have to. Whoever is involved in this, it will eventually catch up with you. Yes, you. It will catch up with you.”
“You who took that cowardly act to trespass on my property to try to intimidate me, you did not succeed,” said Murphy, an employee of the National Bank of Dominica, in a Facebook post, adding that the nine bullets that struck his vehicle in an act he believes was aimed at instilling fear.
“You have just made me stronger and more resolute,” he said, telling the gunmen “if that was your objective, you have failed.”
Murphy recently released his calypso song for the 2025 Carnival season, and while he expressed his gratitude to the support he has since received following the incident, noted “it is unfortunate, the state we have to be at, at this time”.
In a statement, the police said they have launched an investigation into the matter which occurred at the singer’s home in Jimmit, a developing community along the island’s west coast
They have urged anyone with information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the perpetrator(s) to come forward.
