Latin Dances, Spanish Food Highlight Hispanic Heritage Festival

MIAMI-DADE – A variety of performers including a folkloric dance group paid homage to Panama, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Colombia at Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan’s 13th annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Sept. 28 at Country Village Park.

Commissioner Jordan at the Hispanic Heritage celebration (Photos by Godfrey Mead / Miami-Dade County) The multicultural crowd was served a variety of Spanish dishes such as paella, lechon asado, moro rice, and yuca, while attendees enjoyed performances by Salzon Jazz, Ballet Folklorico Aires Panameños, Salsa Lovers, Nago Academy Miami, and Maite Rivero. Raffle prizes were gift cards to Sedano’s Supermarkets.

“During Hispanic Heritage month, we recognize Latin culture and the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the nation,” Commissioner Jordan said. “Every year, this festival celebrates the rich diversity of our community.”
