Barbara Gloudon, Veteran Journalist and Playwright, Dies at 87

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Veteran journalist and playwright, Barbara Gloudon died in hospital on Wednesday night, a few days after her 89-year-old husband, Ancile Gloudon passed away.

Veteran journalist and playwright Barbara GloudonMrs. Gloudon, 87, was inducted into the Press Association of Jamaica’s Hall of Fame in 2013. She was bestowed with the Order of Jamaica in 1992 and, in 2012, became a fellow of the Institute of Jamaica

For decades Gloudon was the scribe behind the Little Theatre Movement’s annual pantomime.

She’s also a former features editor at The Gleaner and hosted Radio Jamaica’s talk-show, ‘Hotline’ from the late 1980s until her departure in 2015.  She was a former Jamaica Observer columnist.

Gloudon’s husband, a former actor, food technologist, orchid enthusiast, died on April 30th.
