Miami-Dade County, FL – Vice-Chairman Kionne L. McGhee has announced the historic allocation of over $4.5 million to more than 200 community organizations, small businesses, and cultural initiatives across Miami-Dade County since his election to the county commission. This transformative investment reflects his commitment to using public resources to directly benefit local communities, fostering growth, empowerment, and cultural enrichment. Organizations such as A to Z Sports Organization, Inc., South Dade Women Veterans Alliance, Seminole Cultural Arts Theater, Inc., Rotary Club of Homestead, Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade, Inc., National Multiple Sclerosis Society – Walk MS Miami, and Jazz in the Heights (small business incubators), are among the many recipients that will leverage this funding to enhance their programming and services.
“This investment reflects a belief in the power of community partnerships,” said Commissioner McGhee. “By directly engaging with organizations and small businesses, we’re ensuring that every dollar goes where it’s needed most—to the people.” This bold action reflects Commissioner McGhee’s innovative approach to ensuring public funds are utilized effectively and transparently to benefit Miami-Dade residents directly. Recipients of the funding have already noted its impact on their ability to deliver essential programs and services.
For example, Mexican American Council (MAC) can expand its educational and cultural initiatives, while Be Strong International is extending its wellness resource efforts. In addition to supporting small businesses and nonprofits, the allocations also enhance Miami-Dade’s cultural fabric, with funding provided to Zoo Miami Foundation, Inc., the Historic Society of South Dade, and events such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade. One recipient, MAC, highlighted the transformative impact of Commissioner McGhee’s leadership. “This investment is not just funding; it’s a lifeline for organizations like ours. Commissioner McGhee’s approach gives us the resources we need to make a real difference,” said President Eddie Garza.
Commissioner McGhee’s hands-on approach to funding has been praised as a departure from inefficient bureaucratic processes. By working directly with vendors, artists, and organizations, he ensures that public funds are allocated transparently and efficiently. This unprecedented investment sets a new standard for community-focused governance, ensuring that Miami-Dade County thrives economically, socially, and culturally.
