Miami, Fl - On Thursday, January 23rd, the day Trump is to deliver remarks at his hotel in Miami for the Republican National Committee (RNC) meeting, Rep. Donna Shalala will join State Senator José Javier Rodríguez, Dr. Frank Mora, and Leopoldo Martinez Nucete at the Freedom Tower to criticize Trump’s broken promises to the Cuban and Venezuelan communities and his unprecedented efforts to deport asylum seekers.
Last week, the Miami Herald reported that an unprecedented 20,000 Cuban asylum seekers are in deportation proceedings due to the Trump administration’s efforts to detain and deport undocumented immigrants fleeing from dictatorships. Trump has also deported hundreds of Venezuelans back to Maduro’s dictatorship and refuses to grant Venezuelans Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
