Over 43 Companies and 18 Colleges and Universities Scheduled to Participate in City of Miramar’s Job and Education Fair on Tuesday, August 3rd

MIRAMAR, FL - The City of Miramar today announced that their Job and Education Fair has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 3, 200, from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. and will now take place in-person at the Miramar Cultural Center located at 2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar, Fl 33025 as well as virtually at MiramarFL.gov/JobFair. As COVID-19 assistance programs come to an end, the event is a timely opportunity for individuals to land a dream job and further their education.

Theevent, which is sponsored by WSVN-7 and Aetna,will feature over 40 area businesses eager to meet job applicants as well as18colleges and universities who will be ready to meet with individuals looking to further their education.

Applicants are encouraged to have a copy of their resumes ready and to be prepared for in-person and virtual one-on-one interviews with hiring managers from participating companies.

Commissioner Alexandra Davis stated, “I am so excited to be hosting this event that will bring together top employers with job applicants in our community. The City of Miramar cares about our residents and we are always seeking new ways to open doors for members of our community to land a new job and to complete a higher education. I am pleased that top companies such as Amazon, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Miramar Police and Fire, Starbucks, Walgreens, JL Audio, Carnival Cruise, Calder Casino, and many others will be joining us with immediate openings ready to be filled. Additionally, over 18 universities and colleges will meet with applicants online to discuss degree programs and certifications.”

At the event, Miramar residents aged 18-26 will also be able to apply for paid internships through the WastePro Apprenticeship Program with positions available such as Driver Trainees and Diesel Technicians.

The City of Miramar is committed to keeping its residents employed and helping employed residents with career changes that best suit their qualifications. This commitment also extends to residents who are unable to secure employment due to their criminal background. The Miramar Police Department has activated its PRIME Unit (Preventing Repeat Incarceration through Monitoring and Enforcement)whichassists previously incarcerated individuals with building their resumes, offering computer access, and finding meaningful employment.

Individuals looking to join the Miramar Police Department will also be able to apply at the Job and Education Fair and if successful, they will be able to take advantage of a competitive starting salary and benefits including a 4 days on- 3 days off schedule, take-home vehicle program, tuition reimbursement and more.
