Opening Ceremony for Global Warming and Peace Mural Art Exhibit

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Commission Chairwoman Audrey M. Edmonson will host an opening ceremony for artist Huong’s Global Warming and Peace Mural exhibit on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 12:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Joseph Caleb Center, 5400 NW 22nd Ave., Miami FL 33142.

huongsHuong’s Global Warming and Peace Mural Huöng is a self-taught artist and a native of Vietnam, where she worked as a war correspondent before her escape to the United States as a refugee after the Communist takeover of Vietnam in 1975. After moving to the U.S., she took up painting full time, and today, her artwork is displayed in galleries around the country.

Huong’s art focuses on addressing current events and social issues through personal experiences utilizing powerful images that create a platform for discussion and invite public participation and interaction. The Global Warming and Peace Mural is her latest large-scale project. The mural will remain on display in the Caleb Center lobby through Nov. 30.

Light refreshments will be served at the opening ceremony.
