MIAMI, FL – Summertime is almost here. This year, skip the television and video games, and treat the kids to fresh air, awesome outdoor activities, and the opportunity to make new friends and life-long memories, by enrolling them in one of the exciting summer camps offered by the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department.
Miami-Dade Parks offers General Program Camps, Children’s Trust and Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion (TRI) camps from June 12th to August 4th at 30 conveniently located parks throughout the county. Camps will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and offer 7:30 a.m. early drop-off and 6 p.m. late pick-up options.
Camps will not only thrill and challenge children, but are fully supervised, offering parents peace of mind, while their child enjoys a full recreational schedule, with fitness activities, sports, arts and crafts, nature encounters, quiet games, and field trips. In addition, children will learn about the benefits of going green, as they discover that a healthy planet is essential for a healthy life by learning the basics of recycling, water conservation and other eco-friendly behaviors that are beneficial for the environment. Campers will also enjoy the annual end-of-summer bash, which includes games, sports competitions, and lunch.
Registration for General Program Camps, for children ages 6-14, is online. The cost for these camps is $45 per week, plus a non-refundable $15 registration fee, with different payment options. Siblings will receive a 10% discount.
Registration for The Children’s Trust Camp is in person. The cost for this camp is free, however a non-refundable registration fee of $15 per child is required. For a list of available sites, visit the web page.
All camps are inclusive to children with disabilities. TRI Camps are exclusively for people with disabilities. Some of these programs are fee-based, while others are funded by The Children’s Trust.
