FPL Selects Curley’s House of Style as the 2021 Miami-Dade Nonprofit Energy Makeover Recipient Received a Free Energy Makeover Valued at More Than $3,500

Local food bank Curley’s House of Style, which provides food and other resources for thousands of community members, has received a free energy makeover valued at more than $3,500, courtesy of Florida Power & Light Company.

This cost-saving initiative is part of a free nonprofit energy makeover provided by FPL on June 2, 2021. FPL energy experts also installed upgraded lighting and a new freezer valued at over $3,500. These upgrades are expected to save the nonprofit approximately $1,200 annually that can be reinvested into its mission to help provide vital resources to those who need it mostAfter conducting a business energy evaluation, FPL selected Curley’s House of Style as its 2021 Miami-Dade Nonprofit Energy Makeover Recipient. As a result, energy experts from FPL provided upgrades, such as new light fixtures and a new refrigerator and freezer, to the nonprofit’s headquarters.

These energy efficient upgrades are expected to save the organization approximately $1,200 in energy costs annually.

“This is a service that we really needed and we’re really grateful to and appreciative to FPL for coming out and helping us out with this,” said Laverne Spicer, Curley’s House of Style Executive Director.

Curley’s House of Style plans to reinvest the savings rendered by these enhancements back into funding its mission to help provide vital resources to those in the community who need it most.
