Be Strong International Honored With “Be Strong Way” Street Naming

Miami, FL — Be Strong International was honored by the Village of Palmetto Bay with the naming of a street in its name, "Be Strong Way," in recognition of its lasting contributions to the community and its unwavering commitment to empowering youth and families across South Florida. This monumental event took place at the corner of E. Indigo Street and 97th and 98th Avenues in Palmetto Bay, bringing together a wide array of elected officials, community leaders, supporters, and representatives of Be Strong International.

bewaystAmong the distinguished guests attending this ceremony were Miami-Dade Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava, and Palmetto Bay Mayor, Karyn Cunningham, who both offered remarks celebrating Be Strong International’s dedication to uplifting the local community through its various educational programs.

Founded in 1992 by Ms. Althea McMillan, Be Strong International has been a beacon of hope and a powerful force for change, providing holistic resources to youth and families to support their growth. With a focus on building stronger communities by developing and maintaining Heart Skills® through healthy relationship education, the organization has grown into a leader in offering support and guidance to over 240,000 individuals in the past 30 years.

It represents a village within a village, built on a foundation of love, compassion, and unwavering support for our neighbors and surrounding communities. As we establish our home here in Palmetto Bay, we aim to be a beacon of hope dedicated to strengthening families and fostering meaningful connections for many years to come”, said Michelle Shirley, CEO and Chief Heart Officer at Be Strong International.

The event started at 4:00 PM with remarks from Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham, followed by Michelle Shirley, CEO, and Chief Heart Officer of Be Strong International, and Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. Afterward, the official street sign unveiling ceremony took place in front of all attendees.
