COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Moved by the overwhelming news of the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and hoping to provide hope and comfort, recording artist Glacia Robinson spilled out her heart in one daylast month and wrote the lyrics to We Are One.

(Photo/Glacia Robinson)“The song We Are One is a song of love, encouragement and hope,” Glacia said. “We want to saturate the atmosphere with a positive message, especially as we persevere through these challenging times.”
Glacia, wholives in New York with husband and producer Emerson Ally, has strong ties to her homeland Jamaica and to the international relief and development organization Food For The Poor,which was founded in the United States 38 years ago to help the poor in Jamaica.
As news of COVID-19 dominated the airwaves, the couple felt compelled to do something.On March 15,they wrote the music and the lyrics to We Are One, which they also decided to share with the charity to use as a rallying cry to help others.
“Food For The Poor is a champion for the poor,”Glacia said.“I admire and appreciate the amazing work that they are doing around the world. I had no reservation in sharing this song with an organization who does so much, and who gives so much hopethrough its donors. It's an honor to collaborate with them. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to be of service.”
Glacia is not only a household name in Jamaica, she is an award-winning singer, songwriter, composer, producer and author who’s an inductee in the Caribbean Gospel Music Hall of Fame.She has performed internationally, recordedsingles and collaborations with a variety of singers and is currently working on her sixth album.
“Our charity is truly humbled by this loving display of support by Glacia Robinson for this organization,” said Food For The Poor President/CEO Ed Raine. “She has given us permission to use a song from her future album, We Are One,which seems very appropriate to all of humankind right now.”
Food For The Poor has ramped up its response to COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the countries it serves, based on urgent requests from its offices and partners. The charity has sent 26 shipments of supplies to seven countries. It alsodonated 350 protective suits through Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale to Pompano Beach Fire Rescue to help their workers prevent transmission of the coronavirus.
