Roots Singer Binghi Blaze Releases Two Hard-Hitting Songs: "Liar Liar/Rome is On Fire" and "Put it Down"
Eight years ago, roots singer Binghi Blaze started recording sessions with producer Dennis “Jah D” Fearon in Kingston, Jamaica. Their collaboration resulted in a number of hard-hitting songs with social themes, but he did not leave out the ladies.
Rastamance shows Binghi Blaze’s appreciation for the empresses who usually bear the brunt of disrespect in dancehall-reggae.
“I wouldn’t consider it a softer side, it’s really a stronger side because only real men uplift their women and compliment them and remind them of how important they are in the Earth,” he stated.
Based in Florida, the Rastafarian artist has re-launched Rastamance which he said did not get adequate promotion when it was first released.
Binghi Blaze believes its theme encouraging respect for women is appropriate and timeless.
“I think that compliments and nurturing of our women is on the decline, not to mention in the music. So, we have to do our part of honoring the women and give them a Rastamance experience,” he said.
Many of the roots artists Binghi Blaze admired in his youth, including Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Burning Spear, were famous for writing and performing songs that decried racism and social marginalization. That message won them worldwide audiences.
Binghi Blaze has two socially-charged songs on the market — Liar Liar/Rome is On Fire and Put it Down.
