Producer Chester Walker Recruits Wayne Wonder and Charly Black For Collab on Song "Celebration Time"

When Chester Walker recruited Wayne Wonder and Charly Black to collaborate on his song Celebration Time, he was counting on their star power to take it outside of dancehall circles. That strategy has paid off.

It has enjoyed steady rotation on WEDR 99Jamz, a leading South Florida radio station that appeals to a broad audience, including the lucrative hip hop and pop market.

That suits Walker just fine.

“This means a lot to me, getting my song played on a station like 99 Jamz. It means that I am producing quality music,” he said.

Walker started in the music business as a studio engineer in the early 1990s. He worked in that capacity for some of dancehall music’s most successful producers including Steely and Clevie, and the Kelly brothers, Tony and Dave.

From St. Thomas parish in eastern Jamaica, Walker launched his own production career in 1998. He has produced songs by the genre’s leading acts such as Sean Paul, Spragga Benz and Bounty Killer.

For the bouncy Celebration Time, he called on Wayne Wonder and Charly Black who have had success on pop markets. In 2002, Wonder scored a Billboard pop hit with No Letting Go while Charly Black entered that publication’s Hot Electronic/Dance Songs chart in 2016 with Gyal You A Party Animal.
