Novel-T's Second Album "Survivor" Tops Jamaica Music Countdown Album Reggae Chart
For reggae artists who live outside of Jamaica, getting a hit song in reggae land is a big deal. A number one album is even more important.
Novel-T achieved that rare feat on November 22 with Survivor, her second album. It topped the Jamaica Music Countdown Album Reggae Chart, three months after it was released by P&N Publishing.
The weekly chart is operated by respected Jamaican broadcaster Richard “Richie B” Burgess. Its latest edition sees Survivor ahead of Mortimer’s From Within and Apex by Bugle.
This is a career high point for Novel-T, a South Florida resident who is originally from August Town in Kingston.
“I am very satisfied. The songs and the level of production on this album was nothing short of stellar. A lot of work was put in by all involved from; artists, writers, engineers, producers, etc. And we did what we had to do to ensure the product was something we could be proud of,” she said.
Six of the 11 songs on Survivor, including Keep it Moving, I Love The Way and Love Won’t Let Us Wait (with Peter G) went number one on the South Florida Reggae Chart, which is operated by Clinton Lindsay, another veteran Jamaican broadcaster.
Novel-T and her husband Howard Perry are the principals of P&N Publishing. Perry and Hopeton Lindo produced most of the songs on Survivor which features ace musicians such as saxophonist Dean Fraser, keyboardist Franklyn “Bubbler” Waul and the Heavy Beat Crew.
Born to Love You, Novel-T’s first album, was released in 2016.
