Leroy Sibbles Currently Promoting New Single 'A Chance on Love'

Not because he is a living legend means there is guaranteed airplay for Leroy Sibbles’ new songs. Best known as lead singer, chief songwriter and bass guitarist for The Heptones, he is currently promoting A Chance on Love.

Sibbles rode the charts with The Heptones back in the 1960s and 1970s with songs such as Pretty Looks Isn’t All, Book of Rules, Sweet Talking and I Shall be Released. He has released a number of songs in the past five years, but admits getting on radio can be tough.

“Getting airplay is the hardest thing nowadays. Out of respect, you might get a one or two play if you’re lucky, but it’s straight pay for play,” said Sibbles, hinting at payola.

He wrote the lyrics to A Chance on Love which is driven by a classic rhythm from Studio One, where Sibbles made his name with The Heptones. It was originally used for Me And You, a 1968 song by Carlton And The Shoes.

Sibbles believes A Chance On Love has great potential to be a smash once the Disc Jockeys put some muscle behind it. While many fans still identify him with The Heptones’ bountiful catalog, he continues to write and record fresh music.

“It’s very important to stay current as it keeps you in the mind of the people which is most important to one’s career as an artist,” said Sibbles.
