Jamaican Singer Wormbass Has Big Plans For 2025: Peforming Music Globally
By Wormbass' standards, 2024 was a slow year in terms of songs released. While the Jamaican singer/musician had only two singles on the market, he said his creative juices continued to flow. "Sunshine", which he co-produced with Michael Jacas, and Illusion, which he did for Polish producer Krystian “K-Jah” Walczak, were released in mid and late 2024, respectively.
“If I were to speak on what last year’s experience has taught me, it’s the virtue of patience. The year for WormBass was more of a reclusive refocusing on the craft, I was able to spend much of this season collaborating with musicians and producers around the world and drawing myself closer to the music,” he said.
Previous years heard the lanky bassist showing his vocal skills on songs like Follow You and Royalty. He also toured with Inna De Yard, a roots collective that includes veteran singers Cedric Myton, Winston McAnuff and Kiddus-I.
Studio work has taken up much of Wormbass’ time in recent years, but in 2025 he is planning a return to the stage.
“This will be the year of putting the music out into the world stage. I expect to perform more of this music on live stages to reggae fans globally. My goal for this year will be releasing my next album which has been in the works for some time,” he disclosed.
Reggaeman, his only album, was released in 2015.
Wormbass is from St. Thomas parish in eastern Jamaica. Although his career as an in-concert musician started during the 1980s, he came to prominence a decade later as the hyperactive bassist for the Blaze Band, which was Beenie Man’s official touring unit.
