Jamaican Singer Wayne Wonder to Perform at 'Groovin In The Park' in New York

With hit songs aplenty throughout his 35-year career, Wayne Wonder has earned his place among dancehall’s royalty. Those tracks have not only kept him busy, but seen him perform for pop and reggae audiences.

That event, promoted by Live Nation, also featured Boyz II Men, Blackstreet, Ginuwine, Usher, Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey and Missy Elliott.

The wiry, South Florida-based singer returned to familiar territory on May 14 (Mother’s Day) with a well-received set at the Art of Reggae Music Festival at Young Circle in Hollywood, South Florida where Leroy Sibbles and Romain Virgo were among the acts.

Come June 25, Wonder is scheduled for Groovin In The Park, which returns to Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York after a four-year absence. He says there is no difficulty performing for diverse audiences.

“It’s a blessing for me to bridge the gap, it’s an amazing feeling performing for the hip hop crowd. For the home turf, I just know how to adjust,” Wonder stated.

His single "No Letting Go" released in 2002 and is his biggest commercial effort. It peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was certified gold last August for sales of over 500,000.

Rhythm And Blues singer Charlie Wilson, Tarrus Riley, Minister Marion Hall, Cham and David Rodigan have also been confirmed for Groovin In The Park.
