Ian Sweetness' New Album "Goose Pimple" is Scheduled For Release in November
Goose Pimple, the pending album from singer Ian Sweetness, is tentatively scheduled for release in November. He came up with the title based on fan response to some of its songs.
“I have a few tracks that I test the waters with and everybody had the same argument, like, ‘dis song give mi goosebumps’. That’s because these songs sing with passion an’ soul which is what Ian Sweetness known for,” said Sweetness.
The album, to be released by his Audio Sweetness Productions, will have 12 songs, most of which he produced. They include covers of Dennis Brown’s Since I’ve Been Loving You and We Thank Thee, originally done by American country singer Jim Reeves.
Another cover, of Ain’t That Loving You (made famous in Jamaica by Alton Ellis) is also on the album. That track is produced by Wildfire Records out of Philadelphia.
Since launching his career in the 1980s, Ian Sweetness has worked with several leading producers including Donovan Germain, head of Penthouse Records, best known for hit songs by Buju Banton, Beres Hammond, Wayne Wonder and Marcia Griffiths.
That guidance prepared him for his role as producer of the songs on Goose Pimple.
“It’s not really difficult producing myself. The only difficulty is the cost, so that’s what slows down the album because I’m not working with a company, everything is paid through my label,” he explained.
Ian Sweetness is scheduled to perform at the Oracabessa Festival on September 1 at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York.
