Stress levels are at an all-time high given the global economic and social upheavals. Women are vulnerable to many of these challenges.

With Patricia as her hero, she shows the importance of resilience in the face of adversity. Reclaimed is edited and published by Tara Smith Jarrett.

“The world feels turbulent: economic struggles, social upheaval, and collective anxiety make each of us ask, ‘How do we keep going when everything seems stacked against us?’ Reclaimed answers that question by showing how one woman transformed despair into purpose. That message of hope is urgently relevant today,” said Empress Uneek, who is from The Bahamas.

She added that the #MeToo Movement, spurred by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein’s sexual exploitation of actresses, was an inspiration for writing Reclaimed. But while women came forward to report similar behavior at the workplace and even in their marriages, Empress Uneek avoids self-pity.

“Right now, readers crave narratives of transformation, not just tragedy. Patricia’s evolution — from a frightened child to a fierce advocate and artist — is a testament that our hardest chapters can become our greatest sources of strength,” she stated. “This memoir arrives at a moment when we’re collectively learning to value resilience, grit, and the power of redemption.”

Reclaimed was launched simultaneously with Not Forbidden, Empress Uneek’s latest song, which is produced by Jamaican Michael “Mikey Shines” Stewart, a veteran of the South Florida reggae scene.

To date, she has released two albums and several singles including a collaboration with roots singer Lutan Fyah.
