Clatta Bumboo Drops His Latest Song 'Attraction'

In late 2023, Clatta Bumboo released Make Way Rasta, a hardcore one drop roots-reggae album that featured American and Jamaican musicians. For his latest song, Attraction, he shows fans a different side.

clattbumClatta BumbooThe lovers rock song is co-produced by the Rhode Island-based artist and Rohan Dwyer, one of Jamaica’s most respected studio engineers. Describing Attraction as “a conscious shift in expression”, Clatta Bumboo is pleased with its production.

“This project is self-directed, and I stayed close to the process. Rohan Dwyer’s input is deserving of a producer’s credit as his work goes way beyond mixing and mastering. His work helped to shape my vision for the graduation,” he said.

Dwyer also worked extensively on Make Way Rasta which was recorded in Rhode Island and Negril, the resort town in Westmoreland parish, Jamaica where Clatta Bumboo is from.

Keyboardist Moses Estick, percussionist Ray Gennari, and guitarist Jhada Dwyer, who also played on those sessions, also returned for Attraction.

Clatta Bumboo was motivated during production of Make Way Rasta to record songs outside of that project. However, he insists there is no hold-up in the promotion in 2024 of his first album.

“I will continue to service Make Way Rasta and all the previous releases. Continue to release a variety of sounds, and definitely increase production. Lots to say,” he said.

Because he came of age as an entertainer on Jamaica’s bustling north coast tourist circuit, Clatta Bumboo’s appreciation for diverse sounds grew during the 1990s and early 2000s. Since moving to New England over 15 years ago, he has become immersed in that region’s reggae scene. Six years ago, he began his recording career. In 2019, Clatta Bumboo released Future Water, his first EP.
