Canadian Rappers Primo Green and Quota Release New Song "Day Ones"

It’s a great feeling to have family or friends who are there for you through thick and thin. Canadian rappers Primo Green and Quota refer to those kindred souls as Day Ones, which is the title of their latest song.

The trio were born in Montreal to Jamaican parents. Throughout their careers, their ‘day one’ has been Jahziel “Motion” Spence, another Canadian of Jamaican heritage, who serves as Primo Green’s road manager.

“Throughout all the ups and downs, my Day One fans, friends and family are still here supporting me. It was great to have my sister in the studio again to work on this song. The energy and creativity in the room allowed the lyrics to flow effortlessly,” said Primo Green.

Although most of his songs are rap/hip hop, he has been building his dancehall-reggae credentials by recently collaborating with reggae singer Norris Man on the song, I Am Stronger. In July, he performed alongside that veteran artist at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay.

In the last 10 years, Canada has produced some of the biggest names in rap, including Drake and Tory Lanez, but it is still not easy for some of their countrymen.

“With the success of Drake and many other talented Canadian artists, the doors have been open to give Canadian talent a listening ear and a chance to gain mainstream attention. It is not easy for any artist to break into the mainstream but once the music is relatable and authentic, things will fall into place,” said Primo Green.
