Antiguan Singer Causion Re-Releases Song 'One Life to Live' With New Music Video

Over 30 years ago while on tour in the United States, Causion witnessed a tragic incident that had a lasting impact on him. It inspired the Antiguan reggae singer to write and record One Life to Live, which he recently re-released.

The new version came out in late July, accompanied by a reflective video directed by Jeron Bailey, Causion’s son.

That visual was filmed in English Harbour, Antigua, where Causion was raised.

One Life to Live was written after he witnessed an horrific road accident. While watching first responders fight to save a man's life, Causion turned to a friend and said, "We get up every day and never know what is in store for us. We only have one life to live."

Those words took on new meaning seven years ago when he got a devastating diagnosis.

“The message came back to me in a way I never expected. When I was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer seven years ago, I had to look at life completely differently,” he said. “Suddenly a song I wrote as a young man about someone else's tragedy became my own story. Re-releasing it with Maurice felt necessary — the message hasn't aged, if anything it's more true for me today than it was when I wrote it."

Causion is Antigua’s official Reggae Ambassador. In November, 2024, he was awarded the Commander of The Most Precious Order of Princely Heritage, the country’s fourth-highest award.
