After 13 Years, Cecil B the Artist Has Released His Second Song "This Love"
It took 13 years for Cecil B The Artist to release This Love, his second song, which came out in March. The singer/musician has been making up for lost time by spending much of the past year in the recording studio.
Those recording sessions resulted in This Love and a cover of Luciano’s reflective Over The Hills, both produced by Ricky Myrie. They are expected to be on Cecil B The Artist’s first album, scheduled for release late this year.
“I’m very excited about it, very excited about the work we put in to get things sounding the way it came out. Ricky is very detailed in his work, very particular about keys and all of that, and things came out beautiful,” he said.
A video for This Love was released one month after the single came out. Over The Hills is earmarked for release in May.
From St. Mary parish in eastern Jamaica, he started playing bass guitar in various bands prior to migrating to the United States. An airbrush artist by profession, Cecil B The Artist maintained ties to music by regularly visiting a friend’s recording studio in New York, where he lives.
In 2012, recorded his first song, Too Much Violence In The Streets. There was a gulf between the follow-up song, but Cecil B The Artist and Myrie began production on a number of tracks last year including his smooth take on Over The Hills, originally done by Luciano in 1997.
“I truly believe in the song because it’s very uplifting and very encouraging. I didn’t really do anything different (from the original), I just put my twist on it,” he said.
