2020 Jamaica Gospel Song Grand Final Premiering This Sunday on CVM

The Grand Final of the 2020 Jamaica Gospel Song Competition will premiere on CVM TV this Sunday, July 26, beginning at 5:30 pm. The Finalists’ Performance Show, which is the first show of the two-show  Grand Final, will see the top ten finalist trying to out sing and out-perform each other as they vie to capture the public’s heart and vote.

Our talented top ten finalists are bringing their all from right across the island, and we know that they plan to rock the nation in the name of God,” said Andrea McCurdy, Events Coordinator for National Religious Services and Projects at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC).

“So we are encouraging the public to tune into CVM TV and the JCDC website and social media pages on Sunday to take in the show, as they get ready to vote for their favourite finalist. This year the public will be deciding which one of our finalists will walk away with the grand prize at the final show, which premiers on CVM TV this Sunday, July 26,” McCurdy continued, noting that Sunday’s show will be live streamed on the JCDC’s website and Youtube page.

The finalists who will be performing in Sunday’s show are: Deon McDonald with You Are Real and Anthony Malcolm with I Need You of St. Mary; Offneil Lamont with Forever God and Father Reece with Satan Gu Weh, of St. Catherine; and Oliver Ashley with No Bargain and Treisha Williams with One Dose of Holy Ghost from St. James.

David Sutton will represent St. Elizabeth with his song Our Response, while Clarendon will be represented by Sheri-Gaye Johnson with I Worship You. Hailing from Manchester is the Euphoria group with Live Today, while Kingston and St. Andrew will be represented by Martanek Phipps with Ye Who’s Without Sin.

McCurdy also noted that the music videos for the top ten songs can be viewed on the popular video-streaming platform Youtube, as well as on the JCDC’s Facebook and Instagram social media pages and on the JCDC’s website, incorporate fun and uplifting scenes from across the island with talented and moving performances from the finalists. 

The Jamaica Gospel Song Competition since its inception in 1987 has since become an iconic presentation of indigenous gospel music in Jamaica. It attracts over 200 artistes, producers and writers of original gospel music each year. This competition is also seen as another avenue for the unearthing and growth of writers, and vocalists through training with the best within the industry.
