Regional Students Dissatisfied With CXC’s Performance

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – A survey conducted among students across the region has pointed to extremely dissatisfaction with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) and the arrangements the agency has made for this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).

Miami Dade College Welcomes Inaugural Class of Rising Black Scholars

Miami, – Miami Dade College (MDC) will officially welcome the inaugural class of its new Rising Black Scholars Program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the North Campus Conference Center. MDC’s groundbreaking Rising Black Scholars Program promotes academic excellence and equity, providing financial assistance, support services and resources to Black students to ensure their academic success, as well as manifest a sense of belonging and preparedness for continued education or entry into the workforce. 

Miami Dade College Hall of Fame Raises $1.2 Million for Scholarships

Miami, – Miami Dade College (MDC) honored ten alumni on the frontlines of the pandemic response and recovery during a special Heroes Edition of the MDC Alumni Hall of Fame. The annual event generated more than $1.2 million to support scholarships for current and future MDC students. The socially distanced awards ceremony was held at MDC Wolfson Campus and livestreamed. School Board Vice Chair DR. Steve Gallon III Was Honored to Receive the “GLO” Award at the 5TH Annual Generational Cure Black & White Gala

On Saturday, May 22, 2021 School Board Vice Chair Dr. Steve Gallon III was humbled and honored to receive the “GLO” Award, in honor of Gloria Ford at the 5th Annual Generational Cure Black & White Gala for his unselfish contribution to the learning and lives of our youth over the past three decades. Their mission is to “Uproot the inherited issues of our older generations to cure the prolonged problems in today's youth.” They seek to provide “a beacon for those concealed within a repetitive cycle of dead ends.”

Principal of the Year Winner Rachel Autler Honored With Free SUV Lease

Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ (M-DCPS) 2021 Principal of the Year - Rachel B. Autler - is driving home in a brand-new Toyota Highlander Hybrid in honor of her outstanding service. Dade Association of School Administrators (DASA) President Ramses Ancheta and President-Elect Ramon Garrigo, District administrators, and Anthony Damato from Toyota of North Miami met at Hialeah Gardens Senior High to present Autler with the keys to the three-year leased SUV.

Our Unsung Heroes at Miami-Dade Public Schools Adult Education

This pandemic has forced many of us to deal with situations which have become life or death due to the health risks brought by COVID-19. Professionals in the health field have been frontline warriors in supporting our sick and ill area residents. Many of those workers have encountered situations that they thought they would never be faced with. Other service areas have also been affected by this unprecedented event.

Jamaica and Cuba Extend Education Agreement

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican schools will continue to benefit from professional and academic support provided by Cuban teachers, following the signing of an agreement between the countries on Wednesday to extend the bilateral cooperation in education.
