A member of the St. Lucian Diaspora is the new CEO of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA). Lorine Charles-St. Jules, a seasoned sales and marketing executive, takes the reins from Beverly Nicholson-Doty, former U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism who served as SLTA’s CEO for more than two years.

She possesses extensive experience and proven expertise in external relations, strategic analysis and planning, organizational development, curriculum development and assessment, and resource mobilization. Prior to joining JFJ, she was a senior manager with Jamaica AIDS Support for Life and has worked for the Council of Voluntary Social Services/United Way of Jamaica.

Trinidadian Steve Dixon, who met Archbishop Tutu, stated that it was with deep sadness that he learned of the passing of the South African Anglican clergyman and passionate anti-apartheid crusader. Archbishop Tutu died at a care home in Cape Town on 26th December 2021, aged 90. He was laid to rest at a state funeral which was held on New Year’s Day.  

KINGSTON, Jamaica  – Nicola Madden-Greig, Group Director of Marketing & Sales at The Courtleigh Hospitality Group, was conferred the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Officer as part of Jamaica’s National Honors and Awards for 2021. The current president of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), former president of the Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA), and the only two-time winner of JHTA’s President’s Award, Mrs. Madden-Greig was honored with an Order of Distinction in recognition of her contributions to the establishment of the Jamaica brand on the world stage.

She is undoubtedly a Black Caribbean history marker in 2022 as she becomes the first Haitian American Congresswoman from the state of Florida and only the second in the history of the United States to serve in the House of Representatives.
