SAINT PAUL, Minn.-- They left it till nearly the last minute, but the Loons defeated the visiting Sporting Kansas City 2-1 and clinched the club’s first-ever playoff berth. The strategy almost paid off for the visitors as a first half goal from Botond Baráth inside of six minutes stood until the 71st minute when Osvaldo Alonso finally broke through the SKC resistance. Heading into the 90th minute, both sides threatened with multiple chances to win the game but it was Hassani Dotson who came to the rescue for Minnesota United. A deflected shot bounced past the outstretched hands of Tim Melia to give the Loons a very late victory that clinched their first-ever playoff berth.

Cary, NC - The North Carolina Courage close out the 2019 regular season this Saturday, October 12 against Sky Blue FC at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. The 2019 Shield-winners will receive the Shield from NWSL President, Amanda Duffy, in a postgame ceremony. This is the third-consecutive season that the Courage clinched the NWSL Shield, making it something they have done every year since relocating to Cary.

Miami-Dade County Parks Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Division (formerly known as Miami-Dade Parks Disability Services) is teaming up with USA Badminton to present a “Discover Para-Badminton” clinic on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the NFL YET (National Football League - Youth Educational Town) Center at Gwen Cherry Park, 7090 NW 22 Ave., Miami. The clinic is offered free of charge and provides an opportunity for adults with physical disabilities to come out and try the fun, easy-to-learn adaptive sport of “para-badminton.”
