CARICOM Condemns Israel’s Move to Ban UNRWA

GEORGETOWN, Guyana – The 15-member regional integration grouping, CARICOM, Wednesday called on Israel to  reverse its decision and allow for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to continue its operations.

Caribbean Immigration Advocates Decry Judge’s Ruling

NEW YORK, New York – The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), an umbrella policy and advocacy organization that represents over 200 immigrant and refugee rights groups throughout New York, on Friday condemned a United States District Court judge’s ruling against the Keeping Families Together (KFT) program that aims to expand access to the parole in place program for long-term undocumented Caribbean and other immigrants married to US citizens, as well as the step-children of US citizens.

PORT AU PRINCE, Haiti – Haiti has welcomed a reduction in the expulsion of Haitians residing illegally in the Dominican Republic even as the Spanish-speaking country has “categorically denied” that the number of repatriations had been reduced at the request of the Haitian government or international pressure.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Prime Minister Andrew Holness Wednesday named Education Minster Fayval Williams as the new Finance Minister , replacing Dr Nigel Clarke,  who resigned his position on Tuesday night to take up a senior position with the Washington-based International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Dominica Celebrates 46th Anniversary of Independence

ROSEAU, Dominica - Dominica bestowed its highest honor on the Olympic Gold medalist, Thea Lafond Gadson, as the country observed its 46th anniversary of political independence from Britain with a call for the younger generation to emulate her success and ensure the future socio-economic development of the country.
