In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF)  said a policewoman, who attended the celebration, witnessed the stabbing and provided a “detailed statement” but the teenager, who was arrested at the home of the other two suspects, denied committing the act during the early hours of Sunday.

“The suspect, when questioned, in the presence of his mother, denied any involvement and stated that it was one of the other suspects…who had stabbed the victim,” police said, adding that the policewoman had “positively identified” the school dropout as the person who stabbed Elliot in his chest.

Police said they are on the manhunt for the other suspects.

Elliot’s body was taken to the Annai District Hospital and the police said two stab wounds were observed to the left-side chest and right-side rib area.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to be performed on the remains of the deceased later on Monday.
