The 2nd Annual Black History Celebration Spins Stories of Excellence and Knowledge

On Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, there was a showcase of talent, storytellers, Poets, Dancers, Drummers, Singers, Actors and Actresses. This was a wonderful evening of Black time travel, where the vision of the two directors Dr. Sybil Johnson PHD, and Sydel LeGrande MD. beaconed a call to our ancestors, they were honored   with a phenomenal performance from everyone involved.

JWOF Conference Highlight - 2019

Thousands Attend Black History Month Concert to Benefit North Miami Residents

North Miami, FL – It was a party with a purpose this Saturday in the city of North Miami at the 4thAnnual NoMi Fest. Thousands of festival attendees witnessed their favorite R&B and Old School artists perform at Cagni Park, with a goal to help local residents facing financial hardship. On hand performing were musical acts Teenear, Crystal Waters, AZ Yet, Chante’ Moore and 112. iHeartRadio personality Papa Keith was this year’s host.

Commissioners Jordan, Bovo Recognize Heroic Bus Driver

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY – Miami-Dade County Commissioners Barbara J. Jordan and Esteban Bovo, Jr. presented a commendation to bus operator Elijah Saleem for saving a family of three from drowning after the family’s car plunged into a canal on Feb. 18. The commendation took place at the Board of County Commissioners’ March 5 meeting.

Pérez Art Museum Miami Honors Gloria Luria at Annual International Women’s Committee Luncheon

(Miami, FL) – On February 20, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) hosted its annual International Women’s Committee Luncheon, an intimate celebration chaired by Darlene Boytell-Pérez and presented by a global women’s fashion brand, Lafayette 148 New York. Honoring Brooklyn native Gloria Luria, an art enthusiast and collector, for her many contributions to the arts in Miami, PAMM’s International Women’s Committee works to further women’s empowerment in the arts to create a more balanced representation in the industry.
