Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning Serves as Grand Marshal of North Miami’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade

North Miami, FL – Miami Heat NBA Champion, Hall of Famer, and Philanthropist Alonzo Mourning will join the City of North Miami as the grand marshal of the 47 Annual WinterNational Thanksgiving Day Parade, Thursday, November 24, 2022. The parade begins at 10AM on Thanksgiving morning along NE 125 ST between NE 6 Ave and NE 12Ave in the heart of downtown North Miami.

Baha Mar Resort Foundation Hosts “Save A Grouper, Eat A Lionfish”

WHAT:  The Baha Mar Resort Foundation, the resort's charitable arm that works to advocate sustainable conservation efforts, is hosting a "Save a Grouper, Eat a Lionfish" themed dinner to raise awareness about an iconic Bahamian endangered species, Nassau Grouper. Taking place on Thursday, November 17, the event aims to encourage locals and guests to consider consuming invasive species like lionfish as an alternative to endangered species like the Nassau grouper.

Comcast RISE to Award $1 Million in Grants to South Florida Small Businesses

Comcast today announced it will award $1 million in grants to 100 small businesses owned by women and people of color, including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian American owners, among others, in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, bringing the Comcast RISE program’s total investment in South Florida to $2 million. Comcast RISE stands for “Representation, Investment, Strength and Empowerment.”

Jason Jenkins Remembered by the Miami-Dade County Black Affairs Advisory Board

Local Couple Gifts $5.5 Million to Broward Health Foundation

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Broward Health Foundation received a gift of $5.5 million last month from Marvin H. Weiner and Jacqueline J. Bernstein, who made their home in Fort Lauderdale’s Harbor Beach neighborhood. Their philanthropic gift is one of the largest one-time donations the foundation has received in recent memory.

Miami-Dade County - The Children’s Trust Family Expo events drew thousands of South Florida children and families looking to prepare for the return of the school year later this month. The events were held on Saturday July 26, at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami, Saturday July 30, at the Sweet Home Community Campus in Cutler Bay, and Saturday August 6, at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in Miami Gardens.
