'Stop Put Money Over Life' is a New Song Co-Written By Anthony Red Rose and Hopeton Lindo

Friends for almost 40 years, singers Anthony Red Rose and Hopeton Lindo first shared the microphone three years ago when they recorded the seasonal A Different Christmas, a song from Lindo’s EP, Feel It Christmas.

They went into the studio which resulted in Stop Put Money Over Life which was released on March 27. Co-written by the duo, it is produced by Red Rose for his Raggedy Joe label.

Stop Put Money Over Life decries selfishness and encourages benevolence which Red Rose believes is lacking in modern society.

“We want the people to realize sey dat health is more important than money, ‘cause yuh have nuff people who sick with cancer an’ money couldn’t save dem, even though dem have billions of dollars,” he said.coHopetonHopeton Lindo (Contributed image)

Lindo and Red Rose cut their teeth on the competitive sound system circuit in Kingston, Jamaica during the 1980s. They also hung out at the studio of Osbourne “King Tubby” Ruddock, the legendary engineer and dub visionary.

Red Rose is known for songs such as the King Tubby-produced Tempo and Intimate (with Bounty Killer), while Lindo’s hit singles include Territory and Lonely Night. In recent years, both artists have recorded songs with producers Sly and Robbie and Rorey Baker.
